Water at the Karner Farm, for both the community garden and
the OLDA will be shut off for the winter on October 15th.
You will need to bring water for your dog.
*The Karner Farm will be closed on Fridays from
8 to 11 am for maintenance.
The Community Garden and the Off Leash Dog Area (OLDA) are both located at the farm.
Community Garden
Put down some roots and come grow with us! Join your neighbors in growing your own farm fresh vegetables. 48 plots, approx. 450 sq. feet each, are available at Karner Farm. Deer fencing will surround the garden. Plots will be prepared by May 26, possibly earlier depending on weather conditions. Call us at 248.451.1900 or email at m_balewski@westbloomfieldparks.org to request an information sheet.
*Gardeners from last year will have the option to choose their same plot again in 2008 through April 15. After this date all plots will be released for others to sign up.
We will be having a meeting with all gardeners on May 13 to discuss any changes, thoughts or suggestions for the year.
The plots will be open and ready for planting beginning Friday, May 23, 2007, weather depending (Memorial Weekend). Sign up for the Community Garden by call 248.451.1900 for registration availablity.
The Off Leash Dog Area (OLDA) is a fenced three-acre area where dogs may run and play off leash. In order to use the area, you must register with West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation at the Parks and Recreation Center in the Civic Center Complex. Only West Bloomfield residents may register their dogs; fee is $20 per year.

Renewal for 2008 OLDA Permits
Renewal for the Off Leash Dog Area will begin on January 16 and will go through March 16. After this date your electronic key will be deactivated. Please make sure that you have the following when re-registering.New registration for West Bloomfield residents will begin after March 16. Both need to bring the following:
- Bring your paper Oakland County Dog License, not the tag, not a copy nor a fax to our office.
- Bring proof of up-to-date vaccinations at the time of registration (including Bordatella)
- Bring your driver’s license
Renewals will not be permitted if the county dog license, vaccination papers and driver’s license do not match exactly.
If you are a non-resident and you have moved or you have a different dog, you will not be allowed to renew.
