Attention Community Garden and Off Leash Dog Area (OLDA) Members:
The water has been winterized (shut-off) at the
Community Garden and the OLDA.
To all Off Leash Dog Park Users,
Some answers to questions that have been coming up and a note about a future project at the park.
1) Will the park be closed for renovations for handicapped accessibility improvements?
No, at this time there are no plans to do any major renovations to the park for handicapped accessibility.
2) Why is the power cut to the gate?
The old farm house is scheduled to be demolished. In order to do this we had to cut the power. We are waiting for a designer to help us determine the best way to route the power so it can be continued to be used for the dog park as well as any future electrical needs. It might be up to 6 weeks or longer while we wait for the designer. So during that time the gate to the park will remain unlocked.
3) Will the dog park be closed while the house is being demolished?
Yes. Due to the heavy equipment needed and safety issues involved with taking down a structure it is possible that the park could be closed for 1 or 2 days. We will try and give you as much notice as possible. If the entrance gate is closed or signed that the park is closed, please do not park along the road and expect to use the park. The OLDA will be chained closed and you will receive a parking ticket if you park along Halsted or in the park. Please be patient while this work is done.
One last note: toward the end of October we are planting some new shade trees at the dog park. It will hopefully be the last week in October or first week of November as long as the weather permits during this time, the park might need to be closed while this is being done. Hopefully for no more than a day or two. We appreciate your patience and will keep you informed of any other changes that occur with these improvements to the dog park.
Please continue to check our website and Facebook page as well as the OLDA Facebook page for updates.
Thank you for your patience and we look forward to the continued success of the Off Leash Dog Park.
